the Littlest Ballerina | a Denver Lifestyle Portrait

the Littlest Ballerina | a Denver Lifestyle Portrait

There is just something so perfect about a little girl dancing around a room, caught up in her own ballerina dreams.

I got super lucky the other day and got to make some portraits of *this* little ballerina girl during a very fast (15 minute) mini session before her 2nd ballet class. When you're 5, it's hard to sit still, or listen, or follow directions..... which is to say, the portraits couldn't be more beautiful and the dancer? Well, she was a dream.

A Trip to the Science Museum with Ruby Blair | Denver Lifestyle Photography

Denver lifestyle photography baby child

Toddlerhood is just SO MUCH FUN; I spent the other day at the science museum with my own little man and his best buddy, Ruby Blair.  We had so much fun that both babies need a 2.5 nap that day!

Ruby was pretty adventurous that day until we got to the dino exhibit....then the fun turned to pure terror. After that scare, she spent a little more time in mom's arms then racing around.  My dude, on the other hand, was undaunted.

While my son went totally bananas in the water exhibit, Ruby was more cautious and mostly just observed ( totally valid, those kids were all going NUTS!)

Ruby's favorite exhibit turned out to be the couches to rest on. She was having some wild times running back and forth while my dude watching with much love. Rubes perked up after that and recovered her bold exploration enough to bravely explore the cafeteria before it was time to take our little adventurers home.

Toddlerhood with my sweet wild son | Denver Lifestyle Photography

Toddler lifestyle photography

My son is officially a toddler ( maybe that happened when he started walking 9 months ago?) and the house is basically a disaster filled with constant chatter. And I love it.  He breaks about 39473209587 things a day, hits head a minimum of about 10-15 times a day and thinks its HILARIOUS to poke my belly and yell BELLY HA!

I didn't anticipate having such a prankster and since he's also a photographer's kid ( who can't have his face on the internet, oh the agony) he has developed a series of jokes around having his picture taken that while they are very funny the first time, tend to lose their charm after 500 repeats.

Example 1: run as fast as you can towards the camera as soon as you notice mommy has it out.

Example 2: pretend to kiss the camera lens until you accidently get to close and hit your forehead on it.  Then cry a lot.

Example 3: make monster faces with accompanying growls until mommy gives up trying to capture whatever adorable thing was happening right before the camera came out.

Catching actual relaxed and natural moments of exploration is practically the impossible dream at this juncture in our toddlerhood but like anything difficult, it's SO REWARDING when it happens!!
